The Ping command is essentially used to ascertain if a given device on the network is capable of talking to another device from which it is being pinged. It can also be used see how much time the target device is taking to return the pings and also gauge the number of returns received. While a skilled system administrator can use the Ping command using the Windows command line tool, remembering various options and ascertaining data in non graphical environment can prove a challenge. Hence a visual tool like GoPing 1.0 is recommended which can plot the movement of the data through charts and also run multiple threads.
On launch the GoPing 1.0 application presents before us a blue hued light shaded screen which is rather pleasant to look at. To start with you need to enter the target details in the Host Name tab and this can even be an IP address. Next you need to set the packet size and choose the interval for the pings. Moreover you can also give the timeout limit after which pings will cease. In the graphical display you can quickly visualize the way in which the data moves. Moreover you can learn the response time along with time duration of the ping responses. While other ping tools typically run a single threat, which prevents you from sending another request till the first one is completed, the GoPing application can run several simultaneous ping requests. The tool even allows you start with a low pinging interval of 20ms.
Owing to its extensive feature set and its capacity to generate high frequency pings with aplomb, we mark the GoPing 1.0 application with a score of three rating stars. The fact that it presents a graphical display of the data transfer adds to its usability.
